Tamper-evident
Built so that any change to a record is detectable, rather than prevented outright.
Tamper-evident does not mean a record can never be altered — it means any alteration leaves visible evidence. A wax seal is the classic example: you can break it, but you cannot break it invisibly.
Attesian is tamper-evident by construction. Certificates are signed, the ledger is hash-chained, and a daily fingerprint of the whole registry is published and independently timestamped. Together these mean a changed record can be caught by anyone, without trusting the registry operator.
