This policy explains how Attesian uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage. They let a site remember things between requests — for example, that you are signed in.
2. How we use them
We use cookies only where they are necessary to operate the Service securely, or — for anything non-essential — with your consent. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.
3. Cookie categories
Strictly necessary
Required for the Service to work. These keep you signed in, protect against cross-site request forgery, and maintain security. They cannot be switched off without breaking core functionality, and do not require consent.
Preferences
Remember choices such as light or dark theme. Non-essential; set only where you have made a choice we need to remember.
Analytics (only with consent)
If we ever add privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the Service is used, we'll do so only with your consent and will update this policy first. We don't set any analytics cookies by default.
4. Checking a certificate uses no cookies
Checking a certificate by scanning its QR code needs no account and no cookies. Anyone can confirm a certificate is genuine without being tracked. This is deliberate: trust should never cost you your privacy.
5. Controlling cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent you from signing in or using parts of the Service. Where we offer a consent control for non-essential cookies, you can change your choice at any time.
6. Changes
If we add or change the cookies we use, we will update this page and, where required, ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
